Who are Frida and Edith?

Yeah, I named my blog after my rats. They don't seem to appreciate the gesture but whatever. Feel free to tell me all about your own fur babies, we can squee together.
In case you were wondering, I'm Kat, rat-mother and sad loser who spends too much spare time and disposable income on nail stuff. In real life I'm a 30-something artist and museum-drone living in the North of England. My nails are natural. I'm doing my best to grow them long but it's a constant battle because they're thin and flaky and I persist in using them as tools. :(

What's on this Blog?
Just me having fun painting my nails. Protip: I have no idea what I'm doing. Budget and indie brands. Pastels, glitter, cute stuff. If you like intricate and clever freehand nail art this probably isn't the blog for you. On the other hand, I'm always striving to improve and I don't post anything I wouldn't wear.

Why my skin looks so crappy?
Because I have excema and even when my skin isn't all scabby and raw it's dry as hell. Yeah, I've tried E v e r y t h i n g. Nothing helps much apart from slapping on moisturiser at every opportunity. Unfortunately, I work with my hands and I can't use hand cream at work so my skin gets a lot of punishment.
I maintain a forlorn hope that one day my cuticles will somehow retain some moisture and my nail shape wonkiness will correct itself. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Tech Stuff?Just in case anyone cares: I use a Sony D-SLR camera to take my photos, just a regular 18-55mm lens because I never got around to buying a macro. I take all my photos in natural light unless otherwise stated.I use photoshop to resize my image and add my watermark, but I promise I never fix my messy cuticles or correct mistakes, if I can't make a mani work in real life I don't fake it for photos.

The site design is all my fault. I nailblog for fun and I also like messing around with my layout.
